Life Science (M. Sc.)

Interested in studying? Introductory information and application

The Master's programme in Life Science explores the fields of bioprocess technology, bioinformatics, molecular biology, biology and chemistry of natural substances in depth and lays the foundations for independent scientific work.

Life science is the strongly interdisciplinary field of science that deals with the chemical and biological foundations of biological systems and their molecular, cellular interactions. The aim is to create a basic understanding of the processes and organisation of life in individual cells, cell assemblies and organoid systems and to make this knowledge available for industrial use. The Master's degree programme in Life Science is intended to produce highly qualified graduates with a strong research orientation who are adequately qualified both to take up a professional activity in the life science industry and to begin doctoral studies. In addition to imparting specialised scientific training in life science, the students are to be trained with special content and didactic measures to qualify them for a profession. The scientific qualification of graduates includes the skills for structured, analytical thinking in biological and chemical contexts, the ability to prove oneself in scientific and social discourse and the ability to work independently on subject-specific tasks.
