The Faculty of Natural Sciences sadly announces the loss of Prof. Dr. Edgar Maiß.
Edgar Maiß was appointed Professor of Plant Virology in 1995 at the Institute of Plant Protection and Plant Diseases, today's Institute of Horticultural Production Systems, where he worked until he left active service at the end of 2021. He passed away in August 2024 after a serious illness at the age of 69.
We mourn the loss of an extraordinary person and scientist. We will remember Prof Maiß as an inspiring colleague, mentor and friend. Our sincere condolences go out to his family.
