From 14 to 19 August 2022, the International Horticultural Congress with more than 2500 participants from 80 countries took place in Angers, France. It was a great success for three doctoral students from Leibniz Universität Hannover:
ISHS Young Minds Award
David Wamhoff received the price for the best presentation by a newcomer scientist, which was awarded in each of the parallel symposia. He works on the genetic basis of adventitious root formation in roses under the supervision o Prof. Dr. Traud Winkelmann, Institute of Horticultural Production Systems, and Prof. Dr. Thomas Debener, Institute of Plant Genetics.
Hans Bethge and Raul Javier Morales Orellana were honoured for their outstanding posters. Both work on projects in a cooperative doctoral project with Prof. Dr. Thomas Rath, BLab at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Traud Winkelmann. Hans Bethge currently develops and tests a phenotyping system for plant in vitro cultures, while Raul Morales investigates the physiological basis of the effects of laser wounding in the context of cuttings rooting.
The International Horticultural Congress IHC is hosted every four years under the auspices of the ISHS – International Society for Horticultural Science on alternating continents. At this important scientific event for the industry, the status of research work is presented, research networks are established and transfer and application are ensured
