Joint celebration with the participation of the Medical School (MHH) and the University of Veterinary Medicine (TiHo)

On 13th November 2024, the graduates of the Bachelor's degree programme in Biology, the interdisciplinary Bachelor's degree programme and the Master's degree programme with Biology as a teaching subject had a joint graduation ceremony.

The certificates were presented by the Dean of Studies of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Prof. Dr Jutta Papenbrock, the Dean of Studies in Biology of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dr Felix Felmy, and the Dean of Studies of Hannover Medical School, Prof. Dr Ingo Just (representing Prof. Dr Andreas Kispert, who is responsible for Biology at Hannover Medical School). The prospective biology teachers on the interdisciplinary Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes were honoured by biology didactics professor Prof. Dr Jorge Groß. One person from each degree programme was also honoured for their outstanding achievements during their studies.

Successful cooperation: biology degree programme

All lecturers emphasised the unique nature of the excellent cooperation at the Hanover site, which has been successfully cultivated for a long time. The cooperation is highly effective and promotes further development in all the three universities' specialist areas, which is important for the natural sciences, as well as interdisciplinary cooperation. Prof Groß added the importance of future biology teachers, as scientifically based education about sustainability, environmental protection and nutrition is more important than ever, especially today. In addition, graduates Justin Peterle and Robin Fehlinger gave a short but humorous and relaxed speech about their past studies, which they compared to the highs and lows of a rollercoaster ride, where you would like to get straight back in the line after the ride.

We would like to thank the VBIO Regional Association of Lower Saxony and Bremen and the Leibniz Universitätsgesellschaft Hannover e.V. for their financial support of this successful event.
