From July 11 to 14, 2022, researchers met for scientific discussions at the miCROPe 2022 conference. All presentations adressed microbe-assisted crop production, its opportunities, challenges and needs. During the confernce the best scientific posters presented by young researchers were awarded the "Best Poster Prize" in Vienna:
Nils Orth received the award for his poster entitled "Endophytic Streptomyces in apple replant disease affected roots differ in abundance depending on Malus genotype and soil origin". He is a doctoral student in the research section woody plant and propagation physiology at the Institute of Horticultural Production Systems and is studying bacterial colonies in apple roots. Under the supervision of Prof. Traud Winkelmann, he aims to identify bacteria that contribute to postharvest apple disease and, above all, to look for bacteria that can counteract the disease.
Each young scientist who had submitted an abstract had the chance to win one of the prizes for Best Talk or Best Poster. From all talks and poster the chairs nominated award winners in the following categories: Best Talk: 1 prize of € 500, sponsored by MDPI Plants Journal & MDPI Microorganisms Journal; Best Posters: 2 prizes of € 250 each, sponsored by Microsynth Austria; Best Posters: 2 prizes of € 250 each, sponsored by KWS.
