LIAG-Seminar: 3D seismic morphology of a channel-floodplain system
Lorena Bello: 3D seismic morphology of a channel-floodplain system – new interpretation routine for geothermal prospects aided by attribute analysis and unsupervised machine learning
Abstract:
This pilot study investigates the seismic morphology of the Rhaetian fluvial distributive system (RFDS), a key geothermal target in the North German Basin. Seismic amplitude, seismic attributes, and machine learning techniques, including principal component analysis (PCA) and self-organizing maps (SOM), were applied to generate seismic facies maps of the channel-floodplain system to improve the targeting of sandstone reservoirs for geothermal exploration.
